Fly to Alicante (ALC). Calpe is 90 km from the airport, about an hour's drive. A hire car is handy but not essential if you stay in the town centre.
May, June, September and October: warm (22-28°C), quiet and 15-20% cheaper than peak season. July and August are the busiest and hottest months (30-35°C).
Altea (15 min), Benidorm (30 min), Alicante (1 hour), Valencia (1.5 hours). The Serra de Bernia offers beautiful hiking trails close by.
