Recommendations in Calpe
The Peñón de Ifach
The symbol of Calpe: a 332-metre rock rising out of the sea. Climb it in about an hour for a spectacular panorama, or enjoy the view from the marina.
Playa de la Fossa & Playa Arenal-Bol
Two wide Blue Flag sandy beaches on either side of the Peñón. La Fossa is lively, with a promenade and water sports; Arenal-Bol is quieter and ideal for families.
Las Salinas de Calpe
A salt lake right in the middle of town where flamingos stay in season. A walking path loops around it, a surprising patch of nature within walking distance of the beach.
The fish auction (Lonja)
Around 5 pm the day's fresh catch is auctioned in the harbour. An authentic spectacle, and afterwards you can eat that very fish at the harbour restaurants.
The old town
Wander through the colourful lanes of the historic centre with its murals, tapas bars and charming little squares.
Day trip: Altea, Moraira & Jávea
Within half an hour you can drive to the artists' village of Altea, exclusive Moraira and versatile Jávea. Three very different gems of the northern Costa Blanca.

Recommendations in Torrevieja
La Mata-Torrevieja Natural Park
The famous pink salt lakes, unique in Europe. Flamingos, walking trails and an almost surreal landscape, right next to town.
Playa del Cura & Playa de los Locos
Torrevieja's central town beaches: fine sand, a long promenade and every facility within walking distance.
The harbour and promenade
Stroll along the marina, enjoy a terrace by the water and visit the salt museum and the old salt ships.
Markets & fresh food markets
Torrevieja has a wide choice of markets and supermarkets. Ideal if you like to cook for yourself or are staying longer, with plenty of European and Dutch products.
Weekly market (Mercadillo)
One of the largest markets in the region: from fresh vegetables to clothing and local treats. A fun morning out.
Day trip: Guardamar & La Mata
Quiet beaches and dune landscapes just south of Torrevieja, perfect for a relaxing day by the sea.
