Renting a villa on the Costa Blanca is the most relaxing way to experience Spain: a private pool, space for the whole group and no hotel rules. But what does it cost, what should you look out for and how do you book direct with the owner without platform fees? This article has the answers.
Why a villa rather than an apartment?

No shared pool with other guests. You decide when to swim, without crowds or fixed times.
Space for the whole group
A villa offers several living areas, a large garden or terrace and plenty of bathrooms. Everyone has their own space.
Complete privacy
No hotel corridors, no shared breakfast room. You have the whole house to yourselves, ideal for families and groups of friends.
Your own kitchen
A fully equipped kitchen means flexibility: breakfast whenever you like, barbecues on the terrace, cooking with fresh produce from the local market.
Better value for larger groups
For more than four or five people, a villa works out cheaper per person than several hotel rooms or two separate apartments.
How much does it cost to rent a villa on the Costa Blanca?
The price depends heavily on size, season and location. As a rule of thumb for Calpe and the surrounding area:

On top of the rental price come a final cleaning fee (€100–200, one-off), the Spanish tourist tax (€0.45–2.25 per person per night) and a security deposit of €300–600. On Airbnb and Booking.com, guests also pay an extra 6–12% in service fees. Booking direct with the owner saves you that amount entirely.

Book direct or via Airbnb?
On Airbnb and Booking.com, guests pay 6 to 12% in service fees on top of the price. For a villa at €800 per night, that is €48 to €96 extra, every night. Over a week the difference quickly adds up to €336 to €672.
